Donington Park race report from a weekends racing with No Limits Racing NLR
After a lengthly lay off from motorbike racing I went into Donington Park a bit hesitant and slightly worried if I’d have everything prepared for racing as all the equipment, tools, bike and spares were new to me.
Phil, Azza and Karl had also never seen or worked on the bike and I hadn’t rode Donington for 9 years so it was a bit squeaky bum time leading up to the event.
The test day proved to be problematic right from the off with mechanical issues causing me to lose track time which I really needed but once resolved we slowly set about improving the lap times starting with a 1.43 and ending with a 1.38.
Going into race day 1 we had qualifying first with the aim to just improve the time and try and get into the top 10. The session went really well with loads of space on track mainly riding on my own I managed to lead the session until the 3d printed tank protector dismounted from the tank messing up the last few minutes of the session, we qualifying 2nd 0.074 off pole which as a team we were very happy with and optimistic we could improve.
Race 1
Starting 2nd we fell back in the first few corners to 6th but managed to move forward back to 4th not far off the front 3 sitting there for a few laps nice enough until a false neutral into McLeans caused us to lose over 2 seconds and the tow to the lead group I then become under pressure from riders behind but held 4th over the line something I was really happy with.
Overnight we managed to make some small changes to the bike to help out in areas we were losing out and moved into Sunday positive we would improve again.
Race 2
We started 6th for this race unfortunately moved back again in the first laps but quickly started to progress to the front finishing 3rd with a really enjoyable ride taking a great podium finish.
Race 3
After more setup changes to the bike we felt we had made a positive step for this race starting 4th we dropped back to 9th but again moved forward quickly with more confidence with the setup changes moving through the pack from 9th to 1st with great battles every single lap i pulled a 1.5second gap and could finally get in a rhythm unfortunately on the last corner I lost the front causing me to go onto the grass which lost all the time I’d made, the last few laps were closer but we managed to move forward again finishing 1st with .5 of a second gap 
Having started the weekend on the back foot I’m really pleased with the weekend always moving forward everybody working together to make things better on and off track.
I’d firstly like to thank Phil, Azza and Karl for their unreal support over the weekend it would simply not of been possible without them. Coming back into Parc ferme after the last race and seeing Azza and Phil so genuinely happy completely made my weekend
